Artist's Comments

I decided to paint the main characters of 'Tameizar' the way that they appear in the new version of the story.

This is Ben, armed and in basic armor. His buckler is far too small though, and this did not scan as well as the Ryan painting did. I just wanted it out of the way quickly, as Ben isn't as exotic or interesting as most of the other 'Tameizar' characters. And I wanted to turn the page in my sketchbook...

Next up: Rini.

Blonde Ben? I hadn't noticed he was blonde in the new version. Does help make him more different from Ryan...and come to think of it, there were a lot of black or dark haired characters, so it makes sense. Kind of suits his personality.
I take it the new T1 goes for a more consistently medieval technology level then. The buckler is a nice touch, you don't see a lot of bucklers around in Fantasy stories!

Even if it is the world's smallest buckler. I like bucklers. They're more portable than most shields.

Yes, he is blonde. It was mentioned in chapter 2 in the form of him running his hand through his hair. And that was the reasoning for him being blonde too. Everyone was dark haired goths in the old version.

And Ebony will no longer have a gun. I think the gun was on Mace's insistance. Why she thought Ebony should have a gun in a medieval setting is beyond me...And don't get me started on Butch's chainsaw...

Hahaha, I think that's a good idea. There were some pretty baffling technological inconsistencies in the old story (like Jade talking about cartoons, Butch's neverending chainsaw etc.) though some things could have been explained by the whole 'earth in the future' dealie, I guess....but actually you never used that excuse. That would have been a good excuse, wouldn't it? Haha.

Blue magic was my old excuse for all. And the cartoons were only in the first writing of it - they were gone in all the rewrites.
